Just a reminder - school starts at 7:50am. Please be on time every day!
September Homework Menu:
Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. With that in mind, I will not be assigning formal, traditional homework in Kindergarten. Instead, I ask that you spend after-school and evenings doing things that have been proven to correlate with student success. Below, you will find some useful and productive activities. Please choose an item from the menu to complete with your child every day. I will not be collecting or checking any assignments - just enjoy spending time with your child and have fun watching him/her grow!
Sensory Walk: Take a nature walk and discuss what you hear, see, and smell. |
Read a book with a parent. |
Draw a picture of a new friend. |
Write your name as neatly as you can 5 times. (BONUS: Write your last name, too.) |
Practice tying shoelaces. |
Write numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. |
Talk about your favorite part of school with your family. |
Color Hunt: Find at least 5 things in your home that are red. |
Help cook dinner, set the table, and wash the dishes. |
Sing the ABC song. |
Color in each box as you complete the activities and have fun!
